In August 2006 Hifas Da Terra suffered one of the most devastating fires known in the area for several decades. Every Galicia burned uncontrollably, and in Pontevedra we no longer saw the sky of the amount of smoke that accumulated the different fires. The fire that affected us began in Tenorio and after 2 days of fire he reached Bora. The whole mountain we were in. Conditions were given 30-30-30 (more than 30 ºC, winds of more than 30 km/h and moisture below 30 %) with what the fire passed from the cup in the cup burning almost all our plantation, most of my mezzanines with more than 30 years for which we had received the AGADER AO Ao Ao Auto Affairs of Rural Affairs.
The greenhouses were not saved, not one! And the production bags that were inside generated a focus that cost us days to turn off. Shiitake plantation was partially saved thanks to the level of humidity he had for irrigation, but the nursery burned whole with the plant prepared for that year.
I was on the beach when they called me, and I came with my mother's automatic car (for some reason when I stopped to a stranger and short, but continuous movement from Alante to the back) to Bora. At the entrance was the police, to which I had to explain that I had to climb to the company to make sure everything was fine ... and the poor, seeing the car moving like this, they thought he was trembling! And they spent a couple of minutes tried to reassure me.
When they finally understood that it was not me, that it was only the car, they let me go, but I did not reach the company because the flames already cut the road. They were already higher than the eucalyptus of more than 10 years ago! Was the television recording (and Quique Morales was!) And I there, with beach pints and stained ash ... It is not fair! After an hour or more of unbearable heat we began to find the people of hyphae, they llamas them and we could lead to the house.
We turned off a few flames that were left and left to help in other houses, the damage done in hyphae was no longer solve while others were having a very bad time. For months we cleaned a coal mountain, the tools spoiled and the smell got us in such a way that, today, seeing the photos, it still gives us the feeling of noticing it.
They were pruning to heal the chestnut trees, the whole mountain was cleaned to Palmo, the wells and the irrigation systems were replaced and the soil was regenerated. From that tragedy we lose, but there is nothing that the nature, the effort of our team and a great investment does not cure. So today, after much work, I want to show you how we were in August 2006 and how we are in May 2008.
